Charge Fox News Along with Trump
As many of us prepare to watch history in the making tonight, some in America will be watching their own version of events thanks to Fox News
The January 6 Select Committee will be airing the first portion of six months’ worth of investigating tonight in primetime, but Fox News won’t be carrying it. Not only has Fox refused to air what could be considered the most prodigious political trial of our time, but the network will be reprising the role they reserve to deflect Trump PR disasters like this one: conspirators after the fact.
To say this country is divided is an understatement. The lines have been drawn for some time. But the symptom of Trump has only better revealed the lingering disease that has infected this country since its origin, and revealed what many of us already knew: white supremacy is the real terrorist threat in America.
While the issues of guns and the violence that comes from them are easy to see, they are just another symptom of our country’s illness. Those that want to feed this virus, which has self-protective properties to ensure it can do as much damage as possible, see reform as a proposition that is as dangerous as antibiotics are to infection.
The Thursday night hearings will introduce the world to Nick Quested, a documentary filmmaker who has video evidence of the violent mob’s siege on the US Capitol that has never been seen by the public before. The coup attempt, incited by then-President Donald Trump and his network of white-nationalist paramilitary forces, will be seen through new, previously unreleased footage tonight.
