The Midterm Election is less than a month away and there are some very close races for control of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and for state-level offices that are pivotal to Democrats. I will be highlighting five of those races at a time, for the few weeks, to help funnel your smaller donations to these candidates who really need them. I will also be promoting campaigns that need your help on my Twitter feed here, so be sure to check in with that as well.
I will provide direct donation links for all of the candidates I am highlighting below. The key to making this successful is to:
1.) forward this article to everyone you know via social media and/or email
2.) make a small donation to each candidate
3.) volunteer to help the campaign via the link provided
4.) volunteer to phone bank for Democrats leading up to the election
For example, I will be donating $2 to each candidate mentioned in this article and sending this out via social media and email to my friends and family. Make a small donation and pass the article along so that more people can participate.
Angie Craig - Minnesota
Democrat Angie Craig faces one of the most competitive House races in the nation against Republican challenger Tyler Kistner. This rematch from 2020, where Craig narrowly beat Kistner by two points (under 10,000 votes), looks to be one of the country's most competitive races.
The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan group that analyzes elections, includes it as one of just 30 "toss-up" races in the country. Craig is the first openly gay mother elected to Congress and the first openly gay person elected in Minnesota. Kistner, a former Marine, has repeatedly suggested during the campaign that he saw combat while in service, but records now discredit those claims.
"This is gonna be a top race," said Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel following a campaign event for Kistner Tuesday. "It's gonna be probably the second most expensive congressional race in the country. We need five to retire Nancy Pelosi, so the RNC has invested here."
Democrats have a great opportunity to hold a House seat, and the key to helping Craig will be donations and phone banking. You can donate to the Angie Craig Campaign here and you can volunteer to help her campaign here.
Elaine Luria - Virginia
When it comes to the 2022 midterm elections, all eyes will be on Virginia's 2nd Congressional District, where Democrat Elaine Luria is seeking a third term in the House of Representatives.
Her challenger, Republican State Senator Jen Kiggans, both have a good chance of winning, according to rankings from political forecasters Cook Political Report and Sabato's Crystal Ball at the UVA Center for Politics.
This will be the first election since the redistricting process made Virginia's 2nd District more favorable to Republicans. The stakes are high, and while Republicans have been slightly favored to win this House seat back in November, it is still a wide-open race and party Congressional control could boil down to the outcome of this particular election.
Democrats have a great opportunity to hold a House seat, and the key to helping Luria will be donations and phone banking. You can donate to the Elaine Luria Campaign here and you can volunteer to help her campaign here.
Mandela Barnes - Wisconsin
A new CBS-YouGov poll shows that Democratic challenger Mandela Barnes trails incumbent Republican Senator Ron Johnson by only 1 percentage point in their battleground race. Democrats view this seat as one of the best possibilities to convert a seat in November and pick up another vote in the Senate or maintain their razor-thin majority.
Recent polling has also shown the race between Barnes and Johnson is neck-and-neck and the nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates it as a “toss-up.” It’s worth pointing out that despite Johnson’s scant lead in the new survey, his likability rating clocked in lower than that of Barnes, which means that Barnes still has room to cover the spread in these last few weeks leading up to the election.
Democrats have a great opportunity to retake this Senate seat, and the key to helping Barnes will be donations and phone banking. You can donate to the Mandela Barnes Campaign here and you can volunteer to help his campaign here.
Adam Frisch - Colorado
A new poll conducted by Keating Research shows that Democrat Adam Frisch has made up ground in his race against the GOP incumbent, US Rep. Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. This US House race now appears to be in a virtual dead heat.
This latest poll shows Frisch within 2 % points of Boebert, going from 42% in July to 45%. At the same time, Boebert slipped from 49% to 47%. The telephone poll, conducted with 500 likely voters from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2, has a margin of error of 4.4%. What’s most notable about the poll is that 37% of respondents were unaffiliated and 36% were Republicans.
Democrats have a great opportunity to retake this Congressional seat, and the key to helping Frisch will be donations and phone banking. You can donate to Adam Frisch’s Campaign here and you can volunteer to help his campaign here.
Katie Hobbs - Arizona
A Marist poll of registered Arizona voters released in late September shows former Democratic Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Republican Kari Lake in a tight contest for Arizona Governor. Lake, a former TV journalist maintains a slight lead of 46 percent support, which is a 1-point edge over her Democratic opponent.
But a Suffolk University-Arizona Republic poll released on the same week showed the two candidates with swapped data and Hobbs holding a 1-point lead with 46 percent support. Both polls reflect that Hobbs has a positive favorability rating of 44%, while Lake’s is much lower at 32%.
While this is a state race that will not determine who controls the majority in Congress this November, this race is pivotal in that it will establish who will oversee the process of counting the electoral votes in a swing state for the presidency in 2024. Arizona was a state where Trump’s false election rhetoric was effective and for this reason, I am recommending that you help the Democrats running in Arizona for Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General. All of these races are incredibly close and critically important.

This Midterm Election is the most important election of our lives. As an Ohioan fighting to keep ignorance and cult mentality from destroying our democracy it is vital, we send and keep democratic leaders in office. Tim Ryan, our next senator, is fighting hard to do just that. Let's keep him in our thoughts, in our prayers and in our hearts and allow our democracy to flourish not perish!
