Look alive gang, cause SHERO has some great changes!
Good afternoon, SHEROISTS! I wanted to let you know about some new changes at SHERO that aim to condense information, get the facts out before the Midterm Elections, and, hopefully, make SHERO an easily digestible source for all your critical political and legal information.
Last week, my Twitter account got hacked with a bogus copyright claim. The hack included a very real email from Twitter and links to file responses. I’m very savvy with the internet, and it appeared to be completely legitimate. What is perhaps more concerning is that it took Twitter more than five days to restore my access to the account, and I have yet to receive any legitimate information about what happened.
This experience has made me realize something — Twitter, or X as it is now, stupidly called, is no longer a viable home base for most people, and I can’t risk anyone silencing my voice and content right before this next election.
As many of you know, I built my newsletter utilizing Twitter at a time when it was a valuable resource for political organizing, and sadly, those times are gone. People who were once united in the goal of stopping the Trump administration the first time are now spread across many social media platforms, which has only hastened the burnout that inevitably comes from dealing with Donald Trump at any level.
As we head into the Midterm Election this November, I’m looking for a better way to get factual, reliable information to the public, especially those who are undecided about voting.
I will be primarily using Bluesky and Substack as my home base for Tweet-like content. By doing this, I will be able to publish mini, condensed articles that you can quickly access when you have time. For this reason, I am asking that you visit my Substack feed first when looking for any information I might be publishing.
I can use more words, link to sources and citations, and provide unlimited access to video and image content on the Substack platform, then disseminate a smaller version on all other social platforms. This new style of posting is a better way to ensure that information is consistent, and I can respond to comments that are more constructive and authentic.
Here is an example of a mini article on my Substack feed:
This is what the companion post will look like on Bluesky:
If you are not active across social media, nothing will change for you. I will continue to send you weekly emails with full articles on issues that need your attention. If you are curious for more access, you should visit my Substack feed, where I can do so much more than I ever could on Twitter. While this may not be a major change in how you view your information, I believe the change in how I post will be pivotal in helping everyone get quick access to information they can be confident about.
Let me know what you think, as always, and thank you for being here with me and for supporting SHERO. Have a FANTASTIC weekend! 🩷
