HELP SAVE SHERO
Recent events on social media and ongoing economy issues have directly impacted SHERO revenue, and it is subscribers and supporters like you who keep this independent publication alive.
I hate to sound alarmist (almost as much as I hate subscription pushes), but sometimes both are a necessary evil. The economy continues to affect SHERO, as many faithful subscribers have had to forgo their support in order to cut costs. Additionally, the destruction Elon Musk has created though his many attempts to destroy Twitter have made it even more difficult for me to reach as many people as I would like, which means less overall revenue.
Twitter, through Musk, continues to suppress all Substack content because they claim that the new Notes feature on the site is direct competition. I have also noticed that my account on the platform has been shadow banned and therefore experiences less traction in trending topics. The direct result means that our revenue here at SHERO has been cut in half. But, I’m not going anywhere, and I’m not giving up, and there is a way you can help now to show your support. While SHERO continues to pivot during these tough economic times, please consider upgrading your free subscription today to a paid one if you can.
In an effort to keep delivering great content for everyone, regardless of the platform you are using, I have been cross-posting EVERYTHING on other competing platforms that I would normally just post on my Twitter feed. This includes providing content on Spoutible, Post Social, Mastodon, Substack Notes and Bluesky. (For more information on some of these sites you can read:
As many of you know, SHERO newsletter revenue supports all of my work across these several platforms — it is because of paid subscriptions that I am able to continue my work on Twitter. The increase in costs and production just to continue to reach my original supporters has gone off the charts — thanks to recent changes across social media platforms — and I need your help to sustain it. The best way to help is to get a paid subscription today.

It is paid subscribers who ultimately support all of the articles I have been publishing at no cost. For the last year, I have published roughly 75% of my articles for free, because I wanted to make sure that anyone who needed access had it, and that Covid affected SHERO readers as little as possible. I don’t want to have to change that ratio, so I am hopeful that many of you who have enjoyed a free subscription, will now consider a paid subscription, so that female-driven, independent journalism for everyone is still accessible.
Many of you have sent me lovely messages to explain why you could no longer support my work here at SHERO, and I completely understand that many have lost jobs and times are tough for everyone. This is all the more reason to support independent journalism for those who are unable to upgrade from free subscriptions.
If any of you who can afford it right now would consider a paid subscription to SHERO for the next year, it would help tremendously. I don’t intend to go ANYWHERE, and I feel I can still do a lot to inform in the world of politics and legal issues. The rocky social media terrain of the last year has made me even more resolved to outlast whichever man-child billionaire comes next. ✊🏻❤️
I love working for you and we still have a lot of work to do. Thank you for your continued support.
