VICE News, which has been investigating the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) for the past two years, has begun to air a two-part series on Wednesday and Thursday nights at 11 pm on Vice News Tonight. The expose focuses on the extensive allegations of sexual misconduct by LMPD officers, that includes former detectives Brett Hankison, Brian Bailey, and Pablo Cano.
The report is based on the premise that LMPD's failure to investigate complaints filed with the department allowed the problem officers to continue acting unchecked and in some cases, victimize more women. Hankison was fired in 2020 for his involvement in the raid on Breonna Taylor's apartment. Bailey resigned last year amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual assault. Cano pleaded guilty to multiple sexual misconduct charges and was sentenced to prison in 2019.
