Roll Call Playlist
A stand-up, dance it out playlist inspired by the electoral roll call of the 2004 DNC. (Originally created by DJ Cassidy for Chicago on August 20, 2024)
The second night of the Democratic National Convention was nothing short of spectacular. Most people were tuning in to see the Obamas as keynote speakers for the night but the show stopping event was the ceremonial roll call that was done this year as a formality to finalize the nomination of Kamala Harris as the Democratic Nominee. You can listen to the DJ Cassidy Roll Call Playlist on iTunes here or on Spotify here.
The DNC had DJ Cassidy intro each state with a special song that reflected their vibe and this guy DELIVERED. By the time we got to District of Columbia I was hooked and when we reached Georgia with that Lil Jon performance, I knew we could never go back.
By the time we hit California, which got a smidgen of an intro and then passed until the end, as it is the nominee’s home state, I knew that I needed to make this into a playlist. In case you missed this epic event, you can watch the entire thing here. Trust me, you need to see this, but I would save it for Happy Hour and really enjoy!
Let’s not forget the reason for the night and get some much needed liberal fuel by re-watching two of the best speakers to ever do it. Michelle Obama went first:
and the night was capped off by President Barack Obama:
I don’t know about you, but I have been having a FANTASTIC time watching the DNC each night. These conventions are my jam, but I have to say that this year has already been a next-level experience. I also wanted to let everyone know that SHERO will be taking the entire week off next week starting this next Monday, so this inspired playlist could not have come at a better time.
Next week I will be listening to this on repeat with my party people and I hope you will join me as we keep this party going and get another one started! Thank you for being a SHERO supporter. You are what makes everything fun. Now, get up and DANCE.
You can listen to the DJ Cassidy Roll Call Playlist on iTunes here or on Spotify here. Enjoy!

Man, I love this version of the Democrats. All of a sudden they’ve become both the cool kids and the adults in the room.
I was out taking a walk during part of the roll call, but listened to the whole thing on Youtube. When I got home, I was glued to the TV. Every part of the even was emotional and powerful, from the speakers during the roll calls, to watching the California delegation's enthusiasm, to the video of Doug Emhoff made by this son, to Doug's speech about his amazing wife, to the Obamas, whose speeches were both inspiring and cautionary. I'm 70 years old and I have never seen a Democratic National Convention like this one. And, all that to a pitch-perfect play list. Oh yeah...and watching the reactions of Doug Emhoff's parents and daughter was such a blast (and the reaction of Gwen Walz had me in stitches). What did I forget?
