The Director of the FBI Helped to Overturn Roe
FBI Director Chris Wray has now admitted to botching the FBI investigation into Brett Kavanaugh, as his own Federalist Society connections to the anti-abortion agenda run deep.
In testimony given on August 4, in front of the US Senate Judiciary Committee, FBI Director Christopher Wray answered a series of probing questions from Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) about the quickie investigation into Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation process. The hearing yesterday, which was being held for the purpose of FBI oversight, was the perfect setting for Whitehouse to pose newly relevant questions following the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade.
During Whitehouse’s line of questioning, FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted that the FBI investigation into the 2018 sexual assault allegations against nominee Brett Kavanaugh was really non-existent, and that the Trump White House directed everything regarding the shallow probe.
FBI Assistant Director, Jill Tyson, confirmed there were 4,500 tips that were called in to the FBI tip line, and that all of those leads were forwarded to Trump and then buried. Compare that to Wray’s testimony yesterday where he claimed that the FBI tip line had collected hundreds of tips. Ultimately, Wray confirmed that it was Trump’s team that decided who the FBI could interview as part of its sexual misconduct investigation into Kavanaugh.
The FBI claimed to have contacted 10 people and "comprehensively interviewed" nine of them, but the narrow scope of the investigation was as obvious as the paltry amount of time the FBI spent on investigating.
No one interviewed Professor Christine Blasey Ford, the person making the allegations, or Mark Judge, the childhood friend of Kavanaugh that Blasey Ford claimed was in the room during the assault. At the time the report was issued, Senator Dianne Feinstein said what she saw of the report appeared to be "the product of an incomplete investigation." Whitehouse: As you know, we are now entering the fourth year of a frustrating saga that began with an August 2019 letter from me and Sen. Coons, regarding the Kavanaugh supplemental background investigation. And I’d like to try to get that matter wrapped up.
First, is it true that after Kavanaugh-related tips were separated from regular tipline traffic, they were forwarded to White House counsel without investigation?
Wray: I apologize in advance that it has been frustrating for you. We have tried to be clear in our process. So when it comes to the tipline, we wanted to make sure that the White House had all the information we have, so when the hundreds of calls start coming in, we gathered those up, reviewed them and provided them to the White House…
Whitehouse: Without investigation?
(long pause)
Wray: We reviewed them and then provided them to…
Whitehouse: You reviewed them for purposes of separating them from tipline traffic, but did not further investigate the ones that related to Kavanaugh, correct?
Wray: Correct.
Whitehouse: Is it also true that, in that supplemental BI, the FBI took direction from the White House as to whom the FBI would question and even what questions the FBI would ask?
Wray: So, it is true that, consistent with the longstanding process that we have had going all the way back to at least the Bush administration, the Obama administration, the Trump administration, and continue to follow currently under the Biden administration, that in a limited supplemental BI, we take direction from the requesting entity, which in this case was the White House, as to what followup they want. That’s the direction we’ve followed. That’s the direction we’ve consistently followed throughout the decades, frankly. You asked specifically about “who” and “what”?
Whitehouse: Yeah. Is it true?
Wray: It is true as to the “who.” I’m not sure as I sit here whether it’s also true as to the “what questions,” but it is true as to the “who” we interviewed.
Wray told Congress yesterday that not only had Trump‘s White House directed the investigation into Kavanaugh’s past, but that this practice was consistent with the way such investigations were held under previous Democratic and Republican administrations. Considering that the Trump administration is currently being investigated for lying, obfuscating and attempting a coup, Wray would have been justified in advocating for a change in procedure, if not insisting on one.
Another critical factor that is still being purposely overlooked is that FBI Director Christopher Wray is a member of the Federalist Society. While the website for the organization gives a disclaimer next to Wray’s name that membership should not be implied, they have made a point to include links to his speaking engagements before the conservative group.
But, according to their Judiciary Committee questionnaires, both Wray and Kavanaugh each joined the Federalist Society upon starting Yale Law and continued as members up through the Trump administration. Wray was two years behind Kavanaugh at Yale College, and Wray then joined Kavanaugh at Yale Law.
Moreover, in the George W. Bush administration, Kavanaugh and Wray were political appointees and colleagues — Wray was a senior aide to the deputy attorney general, and Kavanaugh was in the White House Counsel’s office. Kavanaugh would have worked closely with the Justice Department on nominations and other confirmation matters and Wray would often have intersected with the White House Counsel’s Office in his position at Justice in the criminal division.
Here is an excerpt from a Politico article on conservative white men becoming high-ups in the federal government and their connections to Yale and the Federalist Society:
“The Federalist Society has famously shaped the federal judiciary since its founding, promoting candidates who follow a small-government, socially conservative and textualist interpretation of the Constitution. Every member of the Supreme Court appointed by a Republican since Clarence Thomas in 1991 has been a Federalist. Trump has bragged that The Federalist Society provided him the list of Supreme Court nominees from which he has so far selected Neil Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. The goal of shaping the federal judiciary unites the Trump and the Never-Trump wings of the Republican Party.”
Another term of art used to describe these conservative devotees who are purposely filtered into top governmental positions is the longstanding preference of candidates who are “Pale, Male, Yale.” For more on this topic, watch quick video below:
Since the ruling in Roe v. Wade in 1973, the Heritage Foundation, that was established less than a month after the landmark decision, and the Federalist Society, that started a mere six years after the right to abortion was established, began their nearly five decades of strategy. The goal was to place conservative judges on our highest court in the land and within our legal and governmental agencies. The result has been a hostile takeover of the US Supreme Court at the hands of Donald Trump and his many questionable appointees and the officials, like Chris Wray, who helped him get his nominees approved in the face of incredible controversy.
Near the end of Whitehouse’s line of questioning, he requested that Wray provide responses to letters within the next 30 days, that he and other Democratic members of the US Senate previously sent to the FBI. Whitehouse also added, “There’s a point at which this simply has to come to an end. This has been years and years of unanswered questions.”
Every member of the Supreme Court appointed by a Republican since Clarence Thomas in 1991 has been a member of the Federalist Society. The Federalist Society plan to take over the US Supreme Court through their influential and political strategies has now come to pass.
Justices Thomas, Roberts, Alito,, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett — who now make up the majority of the Court — are all a part of this decades-long master plan. Federal Directors and officials like Christopher Wray were just icing on the cake to ensure this ongoing project was possible and successful. It only took them 50 years.
