Gun Violence This Week

There were 13 separate mass shooting incidents in the United States this week, where 16 people were killed and 72 were injured. This astounding number represents, by far, the most mass shootings and injuries stemming from mass shootings in a one-week period in the United States so far this year. • Several hundred wildfires continue to burn across several Canadian provinces this weekend, with an ongoing negative impact on air quality for vast swaths of the North American continent.

• About 1.5 million people were removed from Medicaid this week, in more than two dozen states that started the process in April or May, following the federal government’s official declaration that the pandemic is over.
