The US Supreme Court has released a new set of ethics standards in order to stop the subpoena process of billionaire witnesses, but it has no means of actually reforming the actions of Justices.
I don't even know if I would call this a "failure". That gives it an aura of legitimacy that it doesn't deserve. This was essentially the Supreme Court thumbing its nose at its critics, IMHO.
While the SCOTUS essentially having no real ethical code is definitely an issue, I worry the bigger issue seems to be Republicans not having ethics in the first place, with or without a code.
Ethic standards without repercussions for lack of adherence are useless. SCOTUS members are not gods and should not be able to do whatever they want without repercussions. These aren’t standards, they’re guidelines, in the loosest sense of the word.
I'm seriously concerned that we could see a repeat of Bush vs Gore😬 Nothing is stopping them from pulling another stunt like that in 2024. Literally nothing.

not-so-subtle reminder that SCOTUS is illegitimate
The *supreme court* (*white supremacist court*) has adopted the Pirates' Code (Pirates of the Caribbean) of ethics. I am much reassured.

WIthout any enforcement mechanism spelled out, the whole thing is just PR.
