A new budget released on Wednesday by the Republican Study Committee (RSC) — a group of more than 170 House conservative lawmakers which includes many Trump allies — calls for for raising the Social Security retirement age for future retirees and restructuring Medicare. The RSC is lead by election-denier Representative Kevin Hern (R-OK), who objected to the certification of electoral college votes in one or more states following the 2020 election, and includes current Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and his top deputies in leadership.
The conservative proposal, which was created by Trump loyalists, yet ironically titled “Fiscal Sanity to Save America,” also promotes new laws aimed to “advance the cause of life,” and includes support for the Life at Conception Act. This new proposal seeks to create more abortion restrictions, and has the potential to further threaten the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process by creating a new legal standard for determining protections at “the moment of fertilization.”
