The latest attempt by the conservative legislative majority in Georgia seeks to remove any political opposition from the judicial arm of government by following an established GOP blueprint.
America needs to wake up to these fascist policies. It's like 1,000 little cuts but when it adds up, it will be a huge slice of our human and civil rights taken away. From abortion rights to LGBTQ rights, to voting rights and being able to fire a duly elected person. Fascism is here in our country and already on an insidious path in many states.
Every single day now we're learning of some Republican power-grab somewhere in the country. Republicans played a long game going back to 1980 to control the judiciary knowing that is where the real seat of power is in America, rightly or wrongly. Democrats did nothing to stop it and continue to do nothing as we see what an extremist party with a judiciary willing to rubber stamp whatever they cook up can actually do to this country. Never in my life did I think we would have to defend press freedoms, or the right to assemble or deal with book bans. It's insane right now and the extreme right knows they have no guardrails to hem them in and a Democratic party unwilling to do anything to stop them. The collapse of America is happening right in front of us, get the popcorn.
Excellent analysis of how the GOP is trying to use the same underhanded dirty tricks the Southern states started enacting in 1877 for all their Jim Crow laws to protect their "way of life". No difference today with the way these GOP governors and legislators are trying to ram their way of life down everyone else's throats regardless of whether that's what the majority of constituents want or not.
Thanks to the stranglehold of gerrymandering keeping these radicals in power, the only peaceful solution is all of America 🇺🇸 voting them out of office as much as possible each and every election probably for the next 50 years. The damage done in the past 40+ years of Reagan's trick down freeloads for the rich have almost bankrupted the nation, while the GOP stooges play the white supremacy implied threat of the Dems giving away America 🇺🇸 with entitlement programs for the poor and needy to keep half of the electorate brain washed about reality. Let's just hope that Jack Smith and DOJ can make some headway on holding the insurrectionists accountable, and perhaps may have to take over the Georgia proceedings once the indictments are issued to prevent the seditious activities of the legislators.
