I'm so pleased you wrote an article about the heart of this constant obstruction. Since Citizen's United, we've been under attack in Congress. Lobbyists were bad enough, but it's out if control now.
Dems get it on all sides, from Moscow Mitch & now from within our own party. The smartest thing that the Kochs did was to buy Sinema & Manchin. I don't believe that we'll get this legislation passed, we'll lose in '22 & even if we win in '24, we'll lose becausethe R's won't certify a Dem win. If it's not trump, it'll be a close & we'll be in a Fascist state, again.
I think Maj. Leader Schumer could prevent that by playing hardball with them. He needs to remove them from their committees immediately, until they vote for these bills & start acting like Dems. Then again, Dems tend to be too meek & bring a butter knife to a gun fight, so I don't think this will happen either. Schumer is obviously in over his ineffective head.
President Biden could maybe prevent this by giving a full throated condemnation of the Filibuster, which is what the 2 of them are paid to keep. But he won't & Democracy will due.

But Manchin & Sinema will be comfortable with their riches, in fact all the GQP & complicit SCOTUS will too. They'll save the racist, archaic Filibuster & Electoral College, rife with cheating & problems, but let Fascism take over. All that has to happen is for good <people> to do nothing. That's exactly what's happening.
I've never seen a Democratic Senator being quite as brazen as Senator Sinema at fundraising off of being an obstructionist, but then again, she's acting like the Republican she clearly is at heart. As for Senator Manchin, he has conflicts of interest everywhere, given his supporting of his daughter's business interests.
The old adage "With friends like these, who needs enemies?" definitely applies here. My personal prediction: After the 2022 election, and presuming that the Republicans do in fact retake control of the Senate, either Sinema or Manchin (or maybe even both) will switch parties.
