The Supreme Court is risking being seen as nothing more than the official legal arm of the Republican Party (not that that would bother the conservative majority at all). Decisions like this one, along with ending the national right to abortion, making sure that any gun restrictions are ended, etc., have been the Republicans' "long game" for years. I saw it coming, but a lot of others did as well. Why didn't the Democrats in the Senate see it? We are now seeing the horrific consequences of the Republican takeover of the courts, as well as the Democrats' ignoring of getting progressive judges confirmed, and I fear that our national nightmare is just beginning................

The cynic in me says the democrats did see it coming and didn't care

If that is the case, then they are just as guilty as the Republicans for allowing this current situation to exist.

I believe so. Democrats were locked in as the working class party up until Clinton. Once Bill realized that the party would have to find a new financing regime to keep up with the Republican corporate and religious financiers, the grave was dug. The Democrats started courting Wall Street and abandoned their working class roots. Fast forward 30 years and here we are....both parties pandering to the same group of billionaires. It's no accident that the so-called wealthiest nation can't provide basic healthcare, education, job security, social safety net, maternity leave, childcare, etc to its people yet we have business owners building rockets and playing grown-up spaceman..... What a train wreck.

I really thought I could have one week where I did not scream into the abyss! As a nation, we are de-volving, re-gressing!! This is just the beginning. Watching these GOP ads for mid-term elections make me ill. The worst is yet to come.

Only the people who are paying attention understand what this means and what signal it sends.

Trump wins, again. An illegitimate president (2016 was a Russian gift to Trump) with a rage and revenge mentality appoints three justices making the Supreme Court essentially a Republican Roman Catholic curia. Sorry but there is no avoiding the reality that the six Catholic justices are not progressives and have no interest in justice for all. Justices influence social issues now more than ever but these six people have only one perspective on society: that it needs a moral (their morality) overhaul and there are multiple religious/cultish groups they are a part of. They are inimical by their religious beliefs to anything progressive. This thread is worth reading, from Steve Hassan: https://twitter.com/CultExpert/status/1488552760828116994 - The Cult of Trump is actually comprised of MANY other Christian cults.

Well AMERICA is officially a second class nation. It is 2022 and we are fighting for United States citizens the right to vote. I must have had a very enlightened Civics teacher in 8 grade last century where we learned about Gerrymandering.

And contrary to Biden's left-wing pandering during the election cycle, he has no plan and no desire to wrangle the court and make it fair. His sham of a committee turned in plenty of observation and nothing of substance to deal with the court's usurpation of power, blatant conflicts of interest and ideological allegiance. The right and left both have failed Americans as they are only interested in big money interests, the rest is grandstanding and money grabs. American "democracy" has become a farce.

I don’t think you have any idea what Left wing is , nor pandering.

Whoa, we're on the same side here. Biden's nomination of a black women is commendable but does nothing to alter the ideological balance of the court. It's a liberal replacing a liberal in a 6-3 conservative court. Great for racial progress but nothing for progressive progress. What process of expanding the court? The commission punted on that question and the majority of Americans are opposed to it anyway. Biden doesn't have the backbone to try it and Congress would never allow it anyway so it's a dead issue. Listened to black Americans? Are you kidding? Voting rights...dead. Court reform....dead. Education loan forgiveness...dead. LOL. Biden is a typical democrat, says all the right things and then does nothing.

I never made anything about race. My beef is with Joe Biden, last time I looked he's not black.
