They're calling it Arrestmas...

(The scene this morning at my entryway table…I have chosen to bring in the big guns so I lit my Nancy Pelosi Lady of Perpetual Shade candle next to my shades…for irony.)

Good morning my darlings and welcome to the day we have all been waiting for for nearly six years. While many eschew the idea that Trump will be taken into custody today, the bulk of Manhattan is on high alert for every kind of shenanigan from legal protests to treasonous insurrections to police barricades to white nationalist hillbillies getting thrown out of story time by by Drag Queens. The Proud Boys showed up to Drag Queen Story Hour (where NY AG Letitia James was protesting) and found out they were not so welcome. "I came here to help, not get the shit beat out of me," said one Proud Boy Member as the police ushered him to safety.

While some might say that there still might not be an arrest any time soon, I am choosing to take it from the horse’s mouth and more importantly, from a statement issued by the Manhattan DA last week, which did not deny that Donald Trump would be indicted today. See below:

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg responded to Trump’s call to supporters to protest his expected arrest, by telling employees in an email: “we do not tolerate attempts to intimidate our office or threaten the rule of law in New York.” Note: No denial of said arrest Also note: I'm giddy

As a legal professional, what I will be watching is the NYPD and how they are choosing to respond. CBS News is reporting that sources inside the police force have told them that NYPD officers, including plainclothes detectives, have been ordered to wear their full uniform tomorrow beginning at 7am/ET, in anticipation of a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump. Officers in Washington, DC, are also taking more precautions on Capitol Hill.

Note: Capitol Hill Police will be on heightened alert for the next few days in case there is any increased demonstration activity in DC.

This is my take on things: even if Donald Trump is not arrested today, he could easily be arrested tomorrow. I am choosing to spend the day honoring what we have all worked so hard to will into fruition, which is the real time comeuppance of a person who has gotten away with far too much. At the very least, we can all kick it old school on Twitter today — like the old days — complete with memes and fun videos and lots of funny hot takes about our collective Trump PTSD.

as we celebrate this day. When you wait so long for a moment like this it can be hard to believe that it is really happening.

I have been guilty of just overlooking this possible arrest with an “I’ll believe it when I see it” mentality because I have been burned so many times before. I have decided to fully invest in this moment, as a way of honoring what we have been fighting toward for so long. Either way, Trump appears to be scared, and I like it.
