Be very careful with your interpretation of what the media present. There is a hell of a fan club for Trudeau. The media are disinformationing with emphasis and have been for some time. You should be well familiar with this because that’s what’s happening elsewhere in the world. This is the Putin agenda. The right wing fascism that’s backing the Conservative candidate that we - many of us -despise is the same agenda that you suffer from with Trumpism. It would not matter right now if Trudeau was Hercules. The media has been bought. They will take Trudeau down, no matter what he does or who he is.
Trump is, after all, a cancer. His openly expressed affinity, if not love, for dictators, Putin in the lead, is now evident worldwide and, like metastatic cancer, this expressed love is being expressed in other nations. The US's leadership on democracy has always been fragile, but now that it looks very much like we are headed into a time of oligarchy, evangelicalism, and intolerance, not to mention straight-up graft, other countries are pushing up their own versions of Trump. We do have influence worldwide; if no one believed it before, believe it now.

Plus the Evangelicals in Canada were matching their US counterparts. Now that they have found and amplified the low knowledge/magical thinking minority - the manipulation of public opinion continues.

Because I know that he was personally responsible for getting the young male right wing extreme voters out in Pennsylvania. I follow those people very closely because I think you need to keep your friends close on your enemies closer. So I read all sides of the spectrum and I absolutely follow the musket very very close closely. It was obvious what was happening six months ago. As a Canadian who tends to field countless questions from my American friends every US election year, I often paraphrase a Chappelle line: “Better doesn’t equal good.” Don’t get me wrong—there’s a lot of good here in Canada. Having lived in the US for several years and experienced the differences between major cities and smaller towns in both countries, I completely understand the need for an idealistic portrayal of Canada. But let’s not get it twisted: in many areas Canada’s politics are very similar to those of the US, just with a little less extremism and polarization.
I worry that France is also on the verge of becoming a fellow right leaning country with Marie LaPenn (as mentioned by Amee). Even Germany is in a precarious position with Olaf Scholz losing a vote of no confidence and being at risk of being deposed by snap elections next year. The unfortunate news about polled Canadians also being uninterested in continuing the way of the centrist, even kneeled Trudeau seems to reflect this same mindset. How can so many voters be lied to. Governments beholden to nationalistic intentions. I fear this will hurt the Ukrainians fighting the Russians, and that some unfair settlement will be forced upon them.
