Happy October! This is just a quick post to get you some critical updates in case you are just waking up or haven’t seen any major news programs yet. Both Donald and Melania Trump have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. This is likely due to exposure from White House aide Hope Hicks, who was with Trump all day on Tuesday in preparation for the debate. There are at least twenty identified White House staff, including Mark Meadows and Kayleigh McEnany, who have been in contact with Hicks, as well.
There are reports that Hope Hicks was showing coronavirus symptoms during the debate prep on Tuesday, yet she did not quarantine. Some of Trump’s closest aides also said they sensed on Wednesday that Trump was feeling poorly but they chalked it up to fatigue from an intense campaign schedule. Vice President Mike Pence and Karen Pence have revealed this morning that they tested negative for the virus. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who has not come into contact with Trump in two weeks, has also tested negative for Covid-19.
Hicks was also present at the White House announcement of Trump’s Supreme Court Nomination of Amy Coney Barrett. Trump, Meadows, and Barrett have also all come into contact with several Senate Republicans during meetings all week, including Mitch McConnell. Additionally, Republicans held a luncheon on Wednesday, and this might have turned into a super spreader event. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was also exposed to Hicks and the Trumps, but he is refusing to quarantine.
This coronavirus news comes on the heels of last night’s bombshell release of audio tapes of First Lady Melania Trump during her personal conversations with former friend and senior adviser Stephanie Winston Wolkoff from summer 2018. The audio clips are detailed in Wolkoff’s new book, where she reveals her shocking private conversations with the first lady on topics ranging from her tense relationship with stepdaughter Ivanka Trump to her marriage and thoughts on border policy. You can listen to the audio by clicking on the tweets that follow.
Some of the most salacious statements include Melania Trump responding in an extremely vulgar and callous manner about border separations: “…they said, 'Oh, what about the children that they were separated?' Give me a f****** break. Where they were saying anything when Obama did that?” (see video clip above.) Melania Trump also discusses how the public blames her for Trump’s actions and sees her as “complicit” regardless of all of her work around the White House, specifically at Christmastime: "I'm working ... my a** off on the Christmas stuff, that you know, who gives a f*** about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?" (see video clip below.)
Wolkoff disclosed her possession of the personal recordings a while ago after an investigation into improper spending from Trump’s inauguration was launched and her lead role in planning the inauguration was brought into question. As the investigation continued, Wolkoff's relationship with the First Lady unraveled and she has told the press that she feels like she is being scapegoated for any illegalities.

now they are sending out fundraising letters about this? & "After WH officials learned of Hicks’s symptoms, Trump...flew Thursday to NJ, where he attended a fundraiser at his golf club...Trump was in close contact with dozens of other people..." via @washingtonpost
Sound and fury — signifying nothing.
In the end we are either focused on surviving pandemic and this insane election suppression onslaught to vote this kleptocratic lot out of the White House, thereby reclaiming the mantel of hard and perpetual work of governing and democracy — or we are condemned to a life of palace intrigue, betrayal and debauchery.
