I cheered when I heard of the fourth count in his indictment - for the first time in the past 3 years I finally heard something that spoke of me - and what I had/have lost because of his actions. I want - no, I demand that my right to be a participant in the election of our leader(s) be counted and seriously defended. How dare him/them!

And yet Republicans are once again rallying behind him, except for the "no hopers" in the primary (Chris Christie, Asa Hutchinson). Even the supposedly "rational and normal" Tim Scott is offering words of support for the Former Guy.

What does it say about this country--or a huge chunk of it, anyway--that an indictment for trying to overturn a free and fair election actually INCREASES your popularity in your party? What does it say about this country that this execrable, seditious grifter stands an excellent chance of recapturing the White House in the next election, despite everything we already knew about him and what we have come to find out since the last election?

Among other things I like about this post, I especially like the pictures you chose of Trump…surrounded by security, going in and out of an indictment hearing, frowning and in regular lighting. Like the press would treat *anyone else*. In MSM right now I see photos of him on the campaign trail, good lighting, the flag behind him. Just infuriating. Thank you for doing it the right way

It is exciting and heartening to see this parasite of a human finally being held accountable for his crimes. But then I read that 50% of the country will still vote for him. It boggles the mind. How can democracy ultimately survive this disabling division? I don't think it can. And Trump, far from ending as a cautionary tale will become the blueprint for how to legitimately take over the US and bend the government to your will.
