Hi Amee. I'm guessing your email is full, so I'll reach you here. First: your podcast message was very helpful. All day on Tuesday, my 2016 PTSD was by my side, watching the EC votes add up, and knowing the math wasn't there. I don't know how I will put one foot in front of the other, but I know I have to. Inspired by a friend, I am going to start at home.
I mean by making my home more joyful and welcoming, even more of a sanctuary than it is, where my husband and I and our cats can be happier and safer than we are now. It sounds small - trivial, even. But if I can become more centered at home, it will help restore my strength to work and fight. My two cents. Keep up the good work. Sukey
You're too kind. It's a start and something I have complete control over. Whatever Trump intends to do, he doesn't care how I decorate and what I make for dinner. I think we could be spending more time at home and friends' homes. That's how I'm starting and if that helps people here, even better.
Thanks Amee. Personally, words cannot describe the feeling of loss in this election. I'm no youngster, I've lived through a lot of elections, you win, you lose, life goes on. But this one, this one feels different. The response is visceral and it feels personal. I don't know if that makes sense. It feels to me like everything I value and am proud of as an American has just been tossed aside as no longer valid. We've lost something much deeper as a country than just an election. I am so grateful right now for these communities. Thank you for being there.
Fantastic thoughts off the cuff Amee. I needed to recharge the last couple of days, this was a gut punch. It is unfathomable that we are here...and your comments on JD are spot on. Your words are a good reminder of what we did after 2016 and we need to double down on that. If you look at the actual numbers the swing states were so, so close and if we all focus we can get all this back in the midterms and in 2028. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Really there are no words to describe the stupidity and/or fool heartiness of being swindled twice. I believe the mantra goes:
Fool me once, shame on you,
Fool me twice, shame on me.
So it was the country’s own foolishness that has landed us in this awful mess. America is a messy place, and actually I disagree with Ms. Harris on a point (although I wholeheartedly think she is brilliant, I thought her policies were incredibly insightful, and she is an incredibly kind person). I do not believe there is a ‘most (insert a positive attribute) country’ in the world. I believe we are not being truthful to ourselves. This race has fueled the flames of fascism. MAGA extremism fuels racism, misogyny, entitlement, classism, you name it. I am very disappointed and disturbed by the juvenile behavior of the president elect. He won. But I foresee the U.S. decline in international stature. I foresee the economy freezing up making those staples as expensive or more so than now. The problem is that there is a population that wants it fast and easy. That you can have your cake and eat it not once but twice. I fear for our daughters’ healthcare ripped from their fundamental rights That women and girls are considered to have less rights than men and boys. I think this fuels misogyny and violence against women and girls. I fear for all females and especially females who are feminists and fight back against misogyny. I hurt for all of the minority ethnic, religious and sexual identity populations: Muslims, Jewish, Hindu, agnostic, atheists, LGTBQIA+ communities. The list goes on and on. It’s strange. Donald Trump was the apprentice of Roy Cohn who helped McCarthy formulate the Red Scare Purge. Well here we are repeating this purge as “The “Enemy” within (the United States)”. Dangerous times. Amee, we need you. Hang in there. Sending support and appreciation for your work.
You sound like you are in my home and quite comfortable in the podcast mode. You presented yourself exactly as I know you to be. It was well designed and defined as to what happened in the past and who you are and what to consider for the future. Succinct and to the point with you in the drivers seat. Follow what you know to be true to you and you will never go wrong. I really enjoyed hearing your voice and welcoming your thoughts. Good going Amee. June
What’s bothering me right now? How people dismiss the roles racism and sexism has played a dominant role in this AND in the world. I can’t even say how “can” people dismiss the roles because there is no logical path. But, what’s most alarming is the fact that there is a plethora of evidence ALL OVER THE INTERNET via audios, videos and written words. There are patterns which are quite visible. There’s the blatant censorship and shadow banning of Black content creators on platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Meta and Instagram. And the racist comments ALL OVER YOUTUBE that are left standing like monuments. Try to push back on any of them and you will not see it posted. That means YouTube is complicit, clearly. Right now I’m by myself. No one sees Black people, STILL. Me? I’m sick of this planet. Period.

It's not trivial at all, it's EVERYTHING. Brilliant idea.❤️

Get well Amee. This time it’s very different

Terrific, Shero! All good. "If you're going through hell, keep going." - Churchill.

Also, I forgot. I LIKE the audio. Really.
