Understanding the path is crucial for us as informed citizens. This is among the most consequential proceedings in our lifetimes, and our nations history. There is still so much work ahead, I look forward to your insight every day.
Yesterday I was like a nine year old on Christmas morning in anticipation of how it would all unfold. I know we still have far to go, but this day needed to happen, in my opinion. Now we’ll have to watch the GOP sadly and pathetically try to shut it all down. Like Sarah Kendzior says, “we have an international crime syndicate masquerading as a government.”
Glad to be a subscriber. Thanks for your analysis, the inside look into the ways of Washington, and your sense of humor.
I have never been so attentive to national politics as now. Your analysis is a great help to my understanding of exactly how the government works (or doesn't). Thank you again.
What a great way to start your paid subscription! I was excited to hear about the impeachment inquiry yesterday, but I wasn’t really sure what it meant. I really appreciate how you make difficult governmental operations accessible to people like me who really don’t understand how it all works. Thank you!
Thank you Amee for your post. Based on this tweet by George Conway https://twitter.com/gtconway3d/status/1176855449527885824?s=20, he agrees with the assessment of Tony Schwartz who stated "Most Republican senators privately hate him & his power over them. If they believe, by banding together, they can push him out, I think there is a very reasonable chance they will." He is the first president I've seen with this unnatural power of keeping his flock tightly bound to him. It's similar to what I've read about mob bosses. Placing hope on what Schwartz said and that Conway believes, part of me feels that is like putting hope on the lottery to get rich.
I wondered about this, too. If you go back a few years, many of the same, supposed avid supporters were far from that in 2016. I’m going to hold on to the Tony Schwartz theory as a real possibility. I’ll drink less...not really.
This will not be a walk in the park. The work has just begun.
I have a question about the phone call. A transcript will be released or should I say a facsimile of one is going to be released. Aren't the phone calls, in the Oval Office, recorded or not? If so, just release the tape. If not, this whistleblower better be believable! Yes there are other reasons for impeachment, but this is the bombshell.
Getting them to release the audio will likely involve a court battle. This is why getting a copy of the full whistleblower complaint is critical-that will include the surrounding events and context as well as the investigation by the ICIG about the complaint. Trump offering to release his version of the transcript really means very little.

Correction: “Transnational” not “International” crime syndicate

Grateful to be a subscriber - succinct, timely and germane. Score!
pretty momentous for a first day, yo?

Why is the complaint being passed by the White House before delivery to congressional committee? It will look like a weather map before it's released!
No, phone calls stopped being recorded in 1974 with the Nixon tapes.
The transcript has been released, and it is damning.
Now there is nothing to do except cross my fingers and keep abreast of the minutiae of government workings.
Thank YOU, Amee !!! Excellent analysis, as always !!!
